Best start project for children with complex needs

The NHS in Leeds is working in partnership with Leeds City Council and are currently reviewing a better pathway for children (age 0-5 years) with physical or learning disabilities (complex needs).

Existing criteria, assessment processes and service provision are reported as complex, difficult to understand and navigate by both families and professionals. There is little evidence of co-ordinated assessment meaning that families have to repeat their stories many times to different professionals.

The aim of the project is to improve the experience of services for children and their families from pregnancy up to the age of five. Parents, children and professionals will work together to design, improve and streamline the pathway of support.

We want to hear your views on how the current services can be improved, what can be done differently, and how we can make things easier for you when accessing services for children with physical or learning disabilities.

You can have your say by writing your views and comments on the comments wall.

Read more information about the consultation.

The consultation closes on the 28 February.
