Young people know where to get information and advice and are supported to access a wide range of opportunities that meet their needs and aspirations. This includes work experience, employment, training and volunteering.

What is Wish 11?

Wish 11 in the Council

There is work taking place within Leeds City Council, lead by our ‘Wish Lead’, on Wish 11 right now. The short-term priorities are:

Identify schools with the highest levels of students who are NEET or at risk of becoming NEET and encourage the take up of careers resources.
Increase the number of opportunities, including supported internships, in the city so that young people with SEND have access to sustainable jobs.
Evaluate the careers offer including delivery of events.

The long-term priorities are:

Targeted priority groups and neighbourhoods to ensure that they have access to a range of experiences of the world of work.
Improve the career offer for young people with SEND in order to enable paid, sustainable employment opportunities once the student leaves full time education.
Explore a work experience offer for young people in the city.

Discover your future at Careers in Leeds 2026, the city’s flagship careers, jobs and skills event, taking place at the first direct arena on Tuesday 3 November 2026 from 12pm to 6pm and bringing together over 100 employers, training providers and support organisations under one roof.

Careers in Leeds is open to anyone considering their next move — whether you’re looking for a job, training, an apprenticeship, or simply exploring career ideas.

At the event, visitors will be able to:

Meet employers and training providers from across Leeds
Explore a wide range of sectors and career pathways
Get practical support such as CV advice, interview tips and employability guidance
Learn about local jobs, courses and progression routes

A dedicated quiet hour for visitors with special educational needs and/or disabilities will be available between 12pm and 1pm.
