Child Friendly Leeds Awards 2026: Nominees
Child Friendly Leeds Awards for 2026 taking place in July at the iconic City Varieties Music Hall, this year’s ceremony promises to be the most vibrant and celebratory yet. The young peoples planning group have chosen a lively carnival-themed evening honouring the people and organisations who make Leeds the best city for children and young people to grow up in. The Child Friendly Leeds Awards 2026 are proudly supported by an outstanding group of sponsors, including Mott MacDonald, The Parklane Foundation, Trinity Leeds, Shine Leeds, White Rose Shopping Centre, Kingpins, Roxy Lanes, first direct bank arena and Leeds City Council.

Partnership is key in our child friendly city approach
In January 2023, HRH Princess Catherine visited Leeds to launch the Shaping Us campaign. The aim is to increase awareness of the unique importance of early childhood and how it shapes the rest of our lives. The princess also spoke to individuals involved in Child Friendly Leeds, launched by the late Queen in 2012. The Princess of Wales spoke to our ambassadors and colleagues stating; ”[Having] children and young people at the heart of the city and community here is really impressive.
