Are you ready to make a difference in your educational setting? Access free support to develop your Climate Action Plan through the Climate Ambassadors programme!

Funded by the Department for Education, this initiative is part of the Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, aiming for all education settings in England to have a designated Sustainability Lead and a Climate Action Plan by 2025. Climate Action Plans should set goals for education setting’s to progress decarbonisation, resilience to climate change, enhancing biodiversity and building green skills.
In December 2023, the Department for Education teamed up with the University of Reading, the Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education (EAUC), and STEM Learning to launch the Climate Ambassadors programme for all 30,000 education settings across England. With nine regional hubs, including the University of Leeds hosting the Yorkshire and Humber hub, we are here to support you every step of the way.

Our September launch event brought together representatives from the Department for Education, local authorities, educational settings, and local climate action projects at the University of Leeds’ School of Earth and Environment. Since then, Climate Ambassadors have been recruited and trained to provide free, tailored guidance to nurseries, schools, and colleges. These volunteers, from the private, public, and academic sectors, are dedicated to helping you progress your Climate Action Plans and make sustainability education accessible to all young people.

Whether you’re just starting your sustainability journey or already developing a Climate Action Plan, the Climate Ambassador programme is here to support you! Early years, primary and secondary schools, specialist provision, and further education settings can request free, tailored support from our network of Climate Ambassador volunteers. These passionate individuals are committed to helping the education sector reduce its climate impact and become more resilient.
