Celebrating active travel during Walk to School Week 2025

This year’s Walk to School Week took place 19 to 23 May. As part of our focus on Wish 6 (safe and easy travel) we are reflecting on the success of the week across the city!
The week was equally busy and fun for our Connecting Leeds road safety trainers and mascot, Arlo the owl. With a focus on making school journeys safer and more sustainable, Arlo, our safe and sustainable travel mascot, and the trainers visited several schools across Leeds to celebrate pupils walking and wheeling.
Throughout the week:
358 pupils took part in classroom activities
171 pupils received pedestrian training
58 pupils learned safe scooting skills
422 pupils took part in safe and sustainable travel assemblies.

These efforts support our journey towards #VisionZeroWY – eliminating serious and fatal injuries on our roads by 2040.
