Being Leeds children’s mayor

Since being elected as Children’s Mayor I have had various responsibilities such as switching on the Leeds Christmas Lights and laying a wreath on behalf of all the children in Leeds, at the Remembrance Day service.
More recently I visited Philip Stoners Jewelers in Leeds where I was presented with new silver chains which all future Leeds Children’s Mayors will get to wear. They are beautiful and the Lady Mayoress likes the way little twists on it catch the light.
Following the presentation of the chains I went with the Lord Mayor to the Civic Hall to help judge a colouring competion for a charity called Silverdale. The charity helps children who are not as fortunate as many. The winning picture was of two giraffes surrounding the word Silverdale.
This week the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress came to visit my school. I enjoyed showing them round and found it funny when we figured out that we had lost John. Then we discovered he’d been asked by a dozen reception children to tie their shoe laces.
I am really enjoying my duties as Leeds Children’s Mayor and I cannot wait until my next duties which include helping to judge the first ever Child Friendly Leeds Awards in January.
