Shine On Events
Seeking to ensure that young learners are informed of the career opportunities in Leeds City Region priority sectors and working with Edward Ryder (owner of Biskit Ltd and Yorkshire Talking Heads) we delivered inspirational talks by Ian Bowden, the former Artistic Director of Rockstar Games, and Danielle Bateman, Strategy Manager for MediaCom, the largest advertising agency in the UK, to 14-18 year olds at the David Young Community Academy and Abbey Grange Academy.
Foster Family Learning Days
In support of our work with Leeds City Council and foster carers, three partners, Leeds College of Art, Leeds Trinity University and University of Leeds are offering free foster family learning days on 6th, 13th and 20th August, providing fun learning activities for all the family, including drawing, textile printing, engineering and much more.
What difference has it made?
At the Shine On events Ian and Danielle’s energetic and lively delivery saw students engaged and inspired- recognising further the importance of pushing for good grades in their GCSEs, A Levels and higher level qualifications.
The Foster Family Learning Days are planned to enable whole families to experience the style of learning delivered at higher education institutions and raise aspirations amongst young people and adults, inspiring them to continue to learn and making them aware of more career options.
