Could you be the designer of the new Youth information Hub logo?

The newly launched Youth Information Hub is a one-stop shop for young people across Leeds to get the information they need – to answer questions they have about mental and sexual health, find out what’s on in Leeds, and get help and support with lots of different things. The site has been designed through discussion with young people from all different areas of Leeds. It provides link to sites ranging from Leeds Pathways (for learning, training and employment) to information about the fantastic events run by Breeze. But one thing’s still missing…

See, the Youth Information Hub might give you all the information you need as a young person in Leeds, but we think the logo would be so much better if it was designed by you! That’s why we need a young person to get creative and show us how it’s done.

You have until 12 December to send us your Youth Information Hub logo design, and if you provide us with the best entry you’ll get to spend a day working with Leeds City Council’s creative services team, using their software and equipment to make sure the logo is perfect. You’ll also get £50 in shopping vouchers, which might help you sort out some last-minute Christmas shopping.

Carl Whalley, Leeds City Council Communications Manager in Creative Services, said:

“My advice is to try to create something unique and memorable – it should be simple and effective using no more than two colours. The most memorable logos are always very simple – click here for the 10 best of all time. You can take inspiration from the Youth Information Hub website, colours should reflect those used on the website.

“Remember not to overthink the logo, your first idea is inevitably the best. There are plenty of excellent resources available online, just search ‘what makes a good logo’ – there may be components available that suit your brief, you may want to search for graphics that illustrate the word ‘Hub’ for example. We look forward to the results and working with the winner.”

Entries for the logo competition should be submitted to: leedspathways@leeds.gov.uk.
