Meet Corpus Christi’s recycling film stars…

Ten children from Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School are the stars of a new film promoting recycling in Leeds.

(See video below…)

The film, produced by WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) and Studio12, features people from across Leeds using their green bin and shows how anybody can get involved in making Leeds a greener city. Alongside filming, the children took part in arts and crafts activities with their teachers, learning what can go in green recycling bins and making colourful cardboard boxes to store their recyclables before they are taken out for collection.

Corpus Christi’s involvement with the project began as part of Leeds’ Takeover Month 2014 when pupils took part in an assembly about the importance of recycling and waste management. Following the assembly a team of pupil ‘recycling champions’ were tasked with encouraging other pupils at the school to reduce their waste, with recycling champions offered the opportunity to visit one of Leeds City Council’s recycling facilities and supported to audit classroom waste.

Paul Ward, parent governor at Corpus Christi Primary School, said:

Thank you to WRAP and Leeds City Council for their invitation to the recycling workshop and filming. My son [a Corpus Christi pupil] and I really enjoyed taking part and hopefully this will encourage others to recycle and protect our planet environment in the future.
