Everyone is invited to join us for ‘Leeds 2023’

LEEDS 2023 is a year-long celebration of culture in our extraordinary city and we’re inviting everyone to join in. Whether you live in Leeds or are from the other side of the world, or if you’re a child or an adult, there is something for everyone!

Leeds is a city with culture around every corner and this is our time to shout about it. Leeds 2023 is working with local, national and international artists and communities to create a celebration that’s for Leeds, with Leeds and inspired by Leeds. This year promises to be an explosion of creativity through music, exhibitions, performance and discussion that will bring to life hidden stories in the city.

What’s on?

This year experience the city of Leeds like never before with an exciting programme of curated events designed to let culture loose.

LEEDS 2023 kicked off in January with the most amazing opening show ‘The Awakening’, at Headingley Stadium featuring music, poetry, dance, comedy and much more, you can view the highlights here.

From brand new shows, bringing to life over 1000 stories from people across the city, to sound walks through the streets of Leeds and a magical moving observatory. There will be lot’s of family friendly opportunities to get involved, experience culture and really shape the city! Why not take a trip and see…

The visual arts are well served by Leeds Art Gallery, with a remarkable collection of twentieth century works. Contemporary art finds a home in The Tetley, a hangover from the city’s brewing heritage. And Leeds takes centre stage in Yorkshire’s sculpture triangle, stretching from the inner-city Henry Moore Institute, to the rolling landscape of Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Get Involved?

We want to draw on our city’s talent and help you get involved in our exciting activities taking place across the year So if you’d love to play a more hands on role, there are many opportunities to get involved. Whether its new roles, volunteer opportunities, competitions or taking part in a project, this is the year to give it a go!

When you volunteer for LEEDS 2023, you’ll get the chance to develop your skills around other inspiring, passionate people like you. No background in culture or the arts required—just a lot of love for making brilliant things happen in our city.

What does culture mean to you?

The city of Leeds is bursting with culture. And it can change lives. But not everyone feels they have the freedom to access culture and creativity. Through Leeds 2023, we’ll all change that, together. We’re a city that’s as much about food, as it is about dance, as much about art as it is about sport. We’re a place where people turn old into new, disused into reused, broken into ground-breaking.

Whether it’s your favourite place to visit, something exciting you like to do, an activity close to your roots or your favourite cultural cuisines? We want to hear from you!
