How young people can have their voices heard across Leeds

Youth Voice guides for every area of Leeds
The Voice Influence and Change team worked with young people to create guides that tell you how to have your voice heard, no matter where you live in Leeds. Each guide is two pages long. The first page has an introduction to ‘voice and influence’ and explains why it is important. The second page has…
- Examples of youth voice groups you could get involved with from across the city, with quotes from young people who take part in these groups!
- Information for your own area of Leeds including people to contact if you have an issue (your local Member of Parliament or Children’s Champion), and local youth workers.

The rights of a child and CFL wish 3

Our work on Child Friendly Leeds wish 3 means that we are always trying to raise awareness of ways that children and young people can have their voices heard.

According to the data from 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, there has been an increase in children who know how to have their voices heard in school and in their areas, and an increase in children who are sharing their ideas. The blue bar represents the 22/23 data, and the orange bar shows how many more children and young people voted ‘yes’ the following year:

It is fantastic that more young people know how to have their voices heard, particularly in Post-16 where we see the biggest improvements, but we still want more children and young people to have their voices heard. That’s why the Wish 3 lead, from the Voice, Influence and Change team in Leeds City Council, produced these youth voice guides…
