New Year Competitions for Children, Young People & Schools in Leeds

Calling all schools, children and young people across Leeds – there are four fantastic competitions live right now, and deadlines are coming up fast! From imagining the future of our city, to designing for nature, staying safe on the roads, and exploring online safety, there’s something for everyone – plus some brilliant prizes up for grabs.
In Leeds, we believe children and young people should be heard, valued and supported to thrive. That’s why these exciting competitions connect directly to the Child Friendly Leeds 12 Wishes — especially the wishes for children to be creative, feel safe, care for the environment, and have a voice in decisions that affect them. Please note if you have any questions about the competitions or want to join the mailing list for future opportunities, please email childfriendlyleeds@leeds.gov.uk.

Last chance to register your interest in the Lord Mayor’s Just One Day Charity Event!
Register your interest and take part in this year’s Just One Day event on Friday 13 February 2026.
‘Just One Day’ is a special day that brings schools, businesses, and communities together across Leeds to raise funds and awareness for the Lord Mayor’s Charity. During my term of office I have chosen to support Leeds Mencap, a vital local charity helping children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and additional needs.
Remember, whether you choose a non-uniform day, a bake sale, a talent show, or something completely unique, every contribution makes a difference. If the date isn’t convenient, please feel free to hold your activity at a time that works best for your school – we’d love as many children as possible to be involved.
