Wish 10 – Learning Settings

All children and young people are in learning settings that meet their needs.

Early years settings, schools and post 16 settings identify and address the barriers that prevent children and young people, particularly those with additional needs, engaging in and enjoying learning.

Wish 10 in the Council

There is work taking place within Leeds City Council, lead by our ‘Wish Lead’, on Wish 10 right now. The short-term priorities are:

  • have a clear roadmap of the neurodiversity support available across the city for children in Early Years, made easily accessible to parents and providers.
  • develop a need-led service model within the One SEND Service based as described in our long-term goal
  • ensure schools and settings are clear of which SEND team to access and when, to support them to meet the needs of children and young people with SEND and additional needs.

The long-term priorities are:

  • increase schools and settings’ awareness of working in a trauma-informed, relational way.
  • provide feedback in relation to the progress on trauma-informed workforce development.
  • develop a need-led service model within the One SEND Service based on the following needs: Learning & Cognition; Communication & Interaction; SEMH; Sensory & Physical – HI, VI, MSI.
