Golden Owl Awards 2016: A free film competition for those aged 3–19 in Leeds!

Calling all young filmmakers! The Leeds Young Filmmakers Golden Owl Awards are back for their fifth year with bigger and better prizes than ever before!

The Golden Owl Awards is the North’s largest celebration of young filmmaking for 3-19 year olds living in the city of Leeds. The awards celebrates the best of young people’s filmmaking across the city and offers an opportunity for young people of all ages and backgrounds to see their work on a big screen in front of an audience of friends, parents, carers, teachers, filmmaking professionals and other young film enthusiasts.

Deadline for entries: 5 February 2016, although if you have a film ready, send it NOW!

So, whether you’ve never picked up a camera before or you are a seasoned animator, filmmaker or documentarist, we want to see your film and give you the chance to take your filmmaking to the next level!

You can enter any type of film, about anything at all. It could be live action, animation, a documentary… we see amazing entries of all kinds every year. Entries are accepted from individuals & groups of friends, schools & colleges and community groups with prizes in lots of different age categories.

It’s free to enter and the competition culminates in a glittering mini Oscars-style award ceremony on Thursday 31 March 2016 at Leeds Town Hall. The event will be attended by over 1200 young people, their teachers, parents and guardians… and a few celebrities too!
